What is St. Brigid’s Light the Land Festival?

A cozy midwinter celebration of light, creativity, nature, and community — inspired by the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc and the spirit of St. Brigid, a figure rooted in renewal, healing, and inspiration. As Clevelanders push through the coldest, darkest stretch of winter, this gathering offers warmth, craft, music, wellness, and a joyful space to welcome the very first stirrings of spring.

Who Was St. Brigid?

St. Brigid of Kildare was a 5th-century Irish abbess known for her generosity, creativity, and connection to the natural world. Associated with healing, poetry, and fertility, she’s celebrated at the start of spring for inspiring new beginnings and nurturing the light within. She’s also a symbol of strength and comfort during winter’s hardest days.

What is Imbolc?

Imbolc (pronounced “Im-bolk”) is a traditional Celtic festival held around February 1, marking the halfway point between winter and spring. It celebrates purification, renewal, light returning to the land, and the first signs of new life — from melting snow to blooming snowdrops. It’s a moment to pause, reflect, and rekindle inspiration.
